SAN DIEGO, CA, March 22, 2016 – Security On-Demand, a leading provider of next generation managed security services announces the launch of the Cybersecurity Internship Program in partnership with National University, the second-largest private nonprofit university in California. The program is designed to offer mentorship opportunities with senior security experts and to cultivate careers for students studying cybersecurity. Over the course of the internship program, students will gain valuable hands-on experience working alongside security analysts in Security On-Demand’s San Diego Security Operations Center or “SOC.”
National University is the first and only university in San Diego to be recognized by the National Security Agency and the Department of Homeland Security as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Education. National University’s master’s program in Cyber Security provides rigorous training and preparation for individuals who endeavor through technical and managerial measures to ensure the integrity and utility of the world’s computing and information systems infrastructure.
“We are thrilled to be partnering with Security On-Demand to offer our students the real-world experience of working in a Security Operations Center,” said Dr. John Cicero, Dean of National University’s School of Engineering and Computing. “National University’s top priority is to provide an exceptional student experience, which we cultivate through programs such as this one to meet a critical need in the cybersecurity sector and allow our students to make a positive impact in our society.”
Governments and private sector businesses across the globe have struggled to identify, hire and retain talented cybersecurity workers. Many of these organizations are now launching internships at the university and even high school levels to ensure they can meet their future staffing needs. The Cybersecurity Internship Program is only open to students enrolled in National University’s Cyber Security degree program.
“I believe that partnering with National University can help in establishing a community of information security professionals while assisting them to advance in their cyber-security careers and that it will also be a critical factor in our ability to keep pace with the growing needs of our customers”, said Peter Bibbee, CEO of Security On-Demand.
