La Jolla, Calif. – National University, the second-largest private, nonprofit institution of higher education in California and the 12th-largest in the nation, has been selected by G.I. Jobs magazine as a “Military Friendly School for 2012.” The honor places National University in the top 15 percent of all schools nationwide.

It marks the third year in a row that National University has been honored for its commitment to the military. Previously, G.I. Jobs magazine and Military Advanced Education magazine have both ranked National University among its “Military Friendly Schools” and one of “America’s Top Military Friendly Colleges and Universities.”

National University enjoys a distinguished reputation for its commitment to military education. The university is a past winner of the prestigious Ray Ehrensberger Award for Institutional Excellence in Military Education. Doug Barr, Associate Regional Dean of Military Students, and Richard Carter, Vice Chancellor of Business Operations, are both past recipients of the William Kennedy Award by the Council of Colleges and Military Educators for outstanding service in military education. Taylor is a past recipient of the John Brian Service and Leadership Award (2007) and the Tilton Davis Jr. “Military Educator of the Year” Award (2010).

With more than 45 locations throughout California and across the nation, as well as more than 70 online degree programs, National University’s one-course-per-month format is ideally suited for men and women serving in the United States armed forces.
