Once A NU Leads California in Granting Master’s Degrees to Hispanic Students

SAN DIEGO, CALIF.National University, the second-largest private, non-profit institution of higher education in California and the 12th largest in the United States, conferred more master’s degrees to Hispanic students than any other college or university in California during the 2010 academic year, according to the annual “Top 100 College Rankings for Hispanics” in the May 2011 issue of The Hispanic Outlook in Higher Education magazine.

Hispanic Outlook’s rankings are based on information from the U.S. Department of Education’s National Center for Education Statistics (NCES).

In total, National University conferred 491 master’s degrees to Hispanics in 2010. In addition to ranking first in California, National University ranked fifth in the nation in granting master’s degrees to Hispanic students according to Hispanic Outlook.

National University consistently ranks among California’s top institutions in higher education in serving minority student populations. According to Diverse Issues in Higher Education, National University was first in California in granting master’s degrees in all disciplines combined to Hispanics, African Americans and Native Americans during the previous academic year. By specific discipline, National University ranked first overall in granting master’s degrees in education in California to every minority category. National University also was first in the nation in granting master’s degrees in education to Hispanics and fifth in the U.S. in granting master’s degrees in education to all minorities.
