2004-05-18 National University is Offering CCTC Reading Certificate Program to Credentialed Teachers

San Diego, Calif. – The National University School of Education is now offering a four-course California Reading Certificate program approved by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing.

The California Reading Certificate program prepares qualified educators to teach reading with expertise in assessment and instruction. Those who complete the program will be eligible for the Commission’s Reading Certificate, which authorizes teachers in California to develop, implement and adapt the reading content curriculum and assist classroom teachers in this area. They may perform these services at one or more school sites at the grade levels authorized by their teaching credential.

To apply for the program, candidates must possess a valid teaching credential and verification of at least three years of successful full-time teaching experience, along with a bachelor’s or master’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university, and meet National University’s admissions requirements.

National University prepares more candidates for single subject, multiple subject and special education teaching credentials than any other single institution of higher education in California, according to the most recent figures released by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CCTC).

Graduates and credential completers from National University’s School of Education are recognized as some of the best educators in California, according to independent assessments from the National Blue Ribbon School competition, the California Distinguished School Program, various Teacher of the Year competitions and NBCT certification.
