Issues Trends in Ed. Tech

Course Description

A survey of a wide range of state-of-the-art issues and trends that have impacted the field of educational technology at the local, state, national and international level. Also addresses the basic principles of information literacy skills and the ethical use of the Internet.

Learning Outcomes

  • Discuss a constructivist, inclusive paradigm for education based on current research in instructional technology and trends in education.
  • Present, in writing, paradigmatic changes in educational leadership and the practice(s) of teaching discussed in the texts and literature on educational instructional technology.
  • Develop resources that include best practices (using examples from the Internet), professional journal articles, textbook case studies and anecdotal observation. Best practices are defined as those activities, which integrate the use of technologies and constructivist methodologies to provide all students (regardless of race, gender or socio-economic status) with access to meaningful educational opportunities.
  • Design and develop a multimedia slideshow demonstrating technology integration for a K-12 classroom.
