Anesthesia Pharmacology II

Course Description

The second of a two course anesthesia pharmacology sequence. Continued exploration of pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of anesthesia specific drugs. Factors modifying anesthetic management of patients are thoroughly explored.

Learning Outcomes

  • Assess the Central Nervous System signs and symptoms in monitoring the adverse effect of anesthetic agents
  • Integrate knowledge of anesthesia related pharmacologic agents on the morbidity and mortality of patients.
  • Evaluate the pharmacodynamics and pharmacokentics of anesthesia related drugs on patients with pre-existing co-morbidities.

Requirements

Students are expected to attend all class sessions, actively participate in class activities and discussions, complete examinations as scheduled, and to turn in all assignments on time. Students are also expected to read all assigned material to the class session in which the material is presented and be prepared to contribute to discussion and dialogue.
