Nurse Anesthesia Assessment

Course Description

Development of advanced clinical reasoning and assessment skills to determine client health status and needs. Application of physiological, pathophysiological, and psychosocial concepts with implications for Nurse Anesthesia.

Learning Outcomes

  • Evaluate the characteristics and competencies of advanced nursing practice and the role of the nurse anesthetist.
  • Formulate evidence based decision making in the provision of clinical services to individual clients, including health assessment, diagnosis and intervention, ordering and interpretation of diagnostic tests, and prescription of medications.
  • Appraise the sources of evidence that can inform the practice of nurse anesthetists, including health indicators, research, and clinical guidelines.
  • Develop health assessment skills in the simulation laboratory and clinical components.
